Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN)

The PSTN provides voice and data communication over a circuit-switched network. It is the network which presently provides most international and national telephone service to end users. Some portions of the PSTN have already been replaced with VoIP systems, including elements of the "core" network and end user equipment.
