Internet

The Internet is the world's largest network of computers and other IP-enabled devices. Those entities connected to the Internet all utilize the IP protocol for communication.

The Internet started as a research project sponsored by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), but became widely popular as a commercial communication medium in the 1990s.
