In cloud computing, "Software-as-a-Service" (SaaS) are services in the cloud that are already built and available for use by applications. Such services might be as simple as those that provide stock quotes or enable blogging, but may also be more complex services that process financial transactions, archive information for permanent storage, or just about any other kind of service one can imagine. The SaaS category is a very broad category of services, as it essentially covers any kind of cloud-based service that might be used by another service. Those that provide services for consumption by other applications or services are referred to as "Software Service Providers" (SSPs).
