Basic Encoding Rules (BER)
Basic Encoding Rules is an encoding specification used by systems that use ASN.1. BER is specified in ITU-T Recommendation X.690. The name "basic encoding rules" was chosen to indicate that encoding rules might be specified in the future, but is an appropriate term, as the encoding scheme is a relatively simple tag/value scheme.
